Default What length of time is stored breast milk "safe" for preemies

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory?id=9442401

"... Researchers stored breast-milk samples from 36 mothers in the refrigerators of one neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The milk, which mothers collected with a breast pump about one month after giving birth, was stored at 39 degrees F and tested after 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours."

So essentially new studies support offering your stored milk to your pre-term baby. In my mind this will help ease some of the concerns nicu staff have had about the integrity of breast milk, and perhaps we will hear of less stories about staff throwing a mother's milk out.
