La Leche League International, LLLI Eastern United States, The American Academy of Pediatrics, and The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists cosponsor this Seminar for Physicians to provide education in effective lactation management using a variety of techniques and approaches.

The American Academy of Family Physicians is participating as a Cooperating Organization. This two-day intensive Seminar covers the latest breastfeeding research and features a faculty of experts in the fields of lactation and family health care. The information presented at this Seminar will enable physicians and other healthcare providers to provide the education and support necessary to facilitate successful and fulfilling breastfeeding experiences for their patients.

  • La Leche League International is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
  • La Leche League International designates this educational activity for a maximum of 15 hours in Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physicians Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spends in the educational activity.
  • The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has assigned
    15 cognate credits to this program.
  • This continuing medical education activity has been reviewed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is acceptable for up to 15.0 AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP CME/CPD Award available to Fellows and Candidate Members of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 15.00 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
  • The American Osteopathic Association has approved this program for 15 hours of AOA Category 2-A credits.
  • This offering is approved for 15 LCERPs from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

La Leche League International (LLLI) maintains consultative status with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has an official working relationship with the World Health Organization WHO), acts as a registered Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) for the Agency of International Development (USAID), is an accredited member of the US Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, the United States Breastfeeding Committee, and the Child Survival Collaborations and Resources Group (CORE). LLLI is a founding member and core partner of the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA).

La Leche League International has a Health Advisory Council which consists of 50 professionals in the areas of pediatrics, obstetrics, allergy, nutrition, psychology, family practice, and other related fields. The Council is consulted on medical problems and evaluations of new research. All La Leche League materials of a medical nature are approved by appropriate consultants before publication. Complementing the Health Advisory Council are local physicians throughout the world who serve as Medical Associates of La Leche League International. Medical Associate membership is $150.
