ACCOMMODATIONS

Q. I don’t want a roommate. Is that possible?
A. The best way to arrange this would be to find others to share a suite with. For Virginia Polytechnic there are three bedrooms, which each sleep two people per suite.  The University of Alabama-Huntsville will be four bedrooms, which sleep one person, per suite.

Q. If I don’t have roommates, how will I be matched up with someone?
A. The registrars will assign roommates. We will take into account whether you are bringing a child or not.

Q. A friend is going to the LDS with her family and is getting an entire suite. I will be sharing with them. How do we pay for this?
A. Your friend should pay for the entire suite with her registration. You pay her directly for your portion. List her as primary roommate on your registration form and indicate she is reserving the suite.

Q. My husband is coming with us. What kind of accommodations do we need?
A. You will need to reserve an entire suite and then “sublet” rooms (if desired) to others who will be attending and don’t mind sharing with a man.

Q. My 16-year-old son is coming with us. What kind of accommodations do we need?
A. You will need to reserve an entire suite and then “sublet” rooms to others who will be attending and don’t mind sharing with a young man.

Q. Can I check into my room on Thursday night for Virginia Polytechnic and University of Alabama-Huntsville?
A. There are a limited number of rooms are available for Thursday night. Please purchase this option on the registration form. Details for Thursday check-ins will be sent via email two weeks before the LDS.

A. Yes, the special rate is for Thursday – Sunday.

A. For Virginia Polytechnic and University of Alabama-Huntsville, Friday check-in can happen after 3 p.m.  For the Best Western Albany Airport Inn, check-in is 3 p.m.

back to FAQ list

DRIVING

Q. I am driving to the LDS. Where do I park? Do I need a parking pass?
A. Parking locations will be listed on the on the LDS Web pages, under the individual school pages as soon as they are determined by the school. Parking passes will be available at the Registration Table, if needed.

BRINGING CHILDREN

Q. Are there things for children on the campus?
A. Each college campus is different. Some do have playground areas but all have open space where children can play with supervision.

Q. Will there be scheduled activities or playrooms for children?
A. No. Please plan ahead and bring things that will entertain your child, whether with you in sessions or with a caregiver.

Q. If young children will attend, at what age is the child required to have a meal ticket? Is there any price break for young children, or does the $40 package price apply to everyone, regardless of age?

A. There is no reduced child meal fee or free age.  Since the meals are buffet-style, children/toddlers under five with small appetites can share with mom.  Children five and over will need to have their own package/ticket.

AREA ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Q. Where can I find out about the area around the campus?
A. For information about area attractions for the LDS you plan to attend, look at the Web page for each school. There is a link there to different activities in the area. LLL-EUS is not responsible for the content of internet sites other than our own.
